Update on NZTM and the release of Tumonz 5

Dear Customer

The national move to NZTM (Transverse Mercator) from Map Grid has been a long time coming and it is the sort of event we are unlikely to have to deal with again in our lifetimes. It is far from trivial but we hope to make this seamless and easy for our customers.

The major impacts to TUMONZ will be:

• All data will only be supplied in the future in NZTM. You will therefore need to upgrade.

• Current distributed data sets including all modules will not function in the new NZTM version of TUMONZ. We need to re-supply all data sets along with the new executable.

• Your own personal data (Shapes, Text, Icons) will be re-projected automatically at installation and will appear in TUMONZ 5.

What is on the Agenda?

We have been rather frantically developing and applying the technologies to re-project all aerial photography and all vector data. These will be supplied along with the new LINZ Topo50 map series (replacing the NZMS260 series). We will also have available the Dept of Conversation lands as a module. TUMONZ 5 will include the functionality of TUMONZ 4 and we may have time to add a few new exciting features. If we don’t, we will put them online as a free update a little later on.

TUMONZ 5 Professional will not be released until early next year as there are some important new capabilities to be developed.

When and what Price?

Always the two critical questions.

Our targeted release date is a week away on the 16th November 2009. We will confirm this via email.

We will have a special price running for a few weeks. Over the “Specials” period we will keep the upgrade price to $185 and it will include the latest property and the new vector data sets and new Topo50 maps. The aerial photo sets represent a challenge. If you have current aerial photo modules we will be able to re-issue these so look for an option on the purchase page. (Your CD Key will tell us what aerial photos you have.) Whether it be 1 or 4 additional DVD’s of aerials we will probably charge just $20 media cost over the specials period. Beyond this period, costs will increase quite a bit.

Kind Regards
From the TUMONZ Team
