Free TUMONZ 4 updates (4.21)
New TUMONZ 4 executables are available to download and they include some important new changes. Thank you for your feedback. We are always pleased when we can provide features and capabilities that you require. These developments include:
1) User Data Backup Support. A Backup menu is provided under the File menu and includes backup and restore commands and an automated backup feature. The Backup will handle Shapes, Icons, GoTo’s and Map Styles. (It is always wise to save timely backups to locations other than the PC on which the data was created.)
2) Updated Road network. The road network is ever changing and TUMONZ 4 provides the means of updating your road network free-of-charge (note, this is not the route solving files but the visible road network). Download the new TUMONZ 4.21 executable from the Downloads/Updates page and then download the ‘Road Update Files’ from the Downloads/All Files page. Running this download will install a new folder of road files that have priority over the original install files. You will see new sub-divisions and new highways such as the Puhoi Orewa tollway.
3) Enhanced Search. The limits to returned search results have been removed and results are now browsable in batches of 200.
4) GPS. The support for different GPX configurations has been increased. Waypoints should import names.
5) Icons. Icon size controls have been added. You can now set icon size relative to ground. We have also changed the Icon pinpoint so it immediately carries out the required action.
6) New Settings. You can now change the font size of layers like Names, Addresses, and Contour lines. Have a play with the many ‘Names’ layers. You can also set colours and show levels and save the Map Style when you have the desired result.
7) DataLink. Improvements to copy/paste in DataLink.
8) 2D Profile tool. Now renders all sections of a route independently of the number of ‘markers’.
Download on the Downloads/Updates page. Standard TUMONZ 4 and Professional TUMONZ 4 customers, enter your CD Key to get you through the ‘gateway’. TUMONZ 4 Server version customers, use the generic key provided at installation. To install, just double click the download (with TUMONZ closed).
New Route solving files Download for all TUMONZ versions
This is the invisible layer used for route solving. If you are running old versions of TUMONZ you may see solved routes where there are no apparent roads (this can only be corrected by an upgrade to TUMONZ 4). Download the route planning file updates and ‘double click’ to run. There are North and South Island sets.
Property module
We receive the Legal/Title register data (i.e. the data that goes into the Property module) from LINZ monthly and update the data sets within new orders. Each quarter we increase the version number. It is currently at 26. You can see the Property module version number by looking at the last two digits in the Activation Key (Under the Activations menu in TUMONZ 3 and 4). Order an update on the Purchase page. For those requiring frequent updates, there is a special quarterly update.
Running a Floating License Server?
This is the floating license business solution that lets you install on as many computers as you like. For customers with a floating license, if you are happy with the way the floating license manager is running, then you don’t need to do anything. However, if the floating license manager is not running appropriately as a ‘service’ then you need to remove your current license manager application and download and run the new application (Downloads/All Files page).
Helpful Hints
1) Using the scroll wheel to zoom. Slow the zoom down by holding the Ctrl keyboard key down as you roll the scroll wheel.
2) Change the Address point font size. (4.21 and later) Choose for instance, the ‘Default Vector’ map style; select Settings Page (top right); expand ‘Current Map Layers/ ‘Parcels, centrelines & addresses’ and select either NI (north island) or SI ‘Address Points’. Now try the controls immediately below. Select the Font Style button and double click a different font style; try a different text colour (best to use the coloured button to the left of the text colour spectrum; select ‘Font Size’ and reset the size). You can also re-set ‘show/hide’ level. Try these controls on any of the many ‘Names layers’. You can reload the distributed map styles and get rid of your changes or save you results under ‘My Map Styles’ on the Main Page.
3) GPS data. Under the My Data Page select any layer (The ‘folder’ is the container and has show/hide controls; the ‘layer’ sets the properties of all objects under the ‘layer’; within a layer there may be many ‘objects’ e.g. lines, shapes, text and icons). When a ‘layer’ is selected, two buttons appear immediately below the tree for importing GPX files or exporting GPX files. How do I get GPX data into or from my handheld GPS? There are a number of free applications that will ‘communicate’ with your GPS and upload/download GPX data (they include EasyGPS and the TUMONZ GPS Manager).
4) When you are map building it is a good strategy to start in the My Data page and add a ‘folder’ and name it so that it is easy to find and manage later. Use the buttons that appear immediately below the tree in the top of the ‘properties panel’. From here add a ‘layer’ and name that as well. You can set properties in the layer, for example fill colour and so on. With the layer selected you can add an ‘object’ and start drawing on the map (Ctrl key down and right mouse click to select the edit function e.g. Add Point). You can of course miss all this out by just adding objects via the Draw menu at the top of the screen. However, TUMONZ will have to put the new object somewhere so it adds it to the ‘Unsorted Shapes and Lines’ folder (or similar) and puts it in a ‘layer’ with today’s date. From here you can ‘drag’ it to wherever you like and re-name the folder and layer.
Kind Regards
