Some More Detail on the new Features

Online map. This is built into the TUMONZ 4 interface and runs a synchronised Google Map™ and 3D Google Earth™ – you can easily switch between TUMONZ and Google mapping. Google’s satellite imagery provides an important new visual dimension and the combination with Tumonz makes the experience exceptional. You can view your own User Data, My Locations and Search results within the synchronised online map. Map editing is enabled as far as Google Map™ supports it. You will of course need to be online to use this feature.

Property. The upgrade and new Standard TUMONZ 4 now by default include the latest Property module (the LINZ Legal & Title data set with owner search etc.) The ability to zoom in to any property and browse the legal and title detail is an important part of the TUMONZ experience and we feel every client should have at least one copy of this very dynamic dataset. Continue to buy future Property Modules as often as you require.

New Roads and free road updates. We update the road sets several times a year, and as usual there are many new roads and changes. The roads data sets are compiled into the large distributed vector files. TUMONZ 4 also has the capability to ‘render’ the road network from small downloadable files. We will make these road updates available as free downloads allowing you to keep your road network current. (Note - these are the displayed roads and are in addition to route solving files.)

Spreadsheet DataLink. Spreadsheet DataLink is accessed from the Tools menu. It opens a floating resizable spreadsheet window ‘on top’ of the map. You can import an Excel Spreadsheet or create one within TUMONZ. Rows in the spreadsheet can reference Icons on the map. One column is assigned to coordinates which might be imported with the spreadsheet, or added by simply clicking on the map (geo-coding).

De-registration. Two registrations are provided with each Product Key (allowing you to run TUMONZ for example on your PC and laptop). In the past when you changed computers you have needed to request a new registration. Tumonz 4 introduces a new command (in the Activation Menu) which will de-register TUMONZ on your current computer, and provide a code to use online to ‘role back’ your registration count.

GPX. Previous versions of TUMONZ included a GPS Manager running as a stand-alone application to upload/download data to/from a limited range of handheld GPS units. Data in the GPS could be made visible in the TUMONZ map via a series of commands. The TUMONZ GPS Manager also saved/opened data in GPX format (common industry format). TUMONZ 4 now natively supports GPX and allows you to select your user data directly and import/export from/to GPX format. This allows you to use many pf the excellent free GPS managers available (for example see www.EasyGPS.com) that support a very wide range of handheld GPS makes and models, including the GPS managers distributed with the different GPS brands and which many users prefer to continue using. We also see GPX as a means of providing a future pathway to upload selected layers from the TUMONZ map to your handheld. If you are running TUMONZ 3 or earlier versions you can continue to use the GPS Manager within that version (it also handles GPX).

Other features and Changes. LINZ is moving NZ’s topo maps to NZTM Eastings/Northings coordinates which will become an increasingly important projection system. This projection is now supported in Tumonz 4 - selectable under Quick Options. Coordinates are displayed at cursor position (also Icons will ‘jump-to’ and the map will centre on entered coordinates). There are many other changes that will improve your experience in using some of TUMONZ more standard functionality, for example displaying line length and the measure tool length to 0.1m.

Mortgage Map Style. The Property module is based on NZ’s Legal & Title register managed by LINZ. This is a ‘public register’ and is accordingly made available to anyone. The TUMONZ Property information includes the parcel polygon, documented area, legal description and title detail including owner and encumbrances (which are mostly mortgage detail including which agency provides that mortgage). This new feature in TUMONZ Professional is accessed via a new Map Style which paints properties according to Mortgage provider. Summary statistics are also included.
